Sign up for the Porch to Torch 5K Fun Run on Saturday, Aug. 7, and get Wellness Activity Points. As a reminder, any 5K or other race is worth 10 Wellness Activity Points. Just submit your bib to the HR Office after the event.

The Porch to Torch 5K is a community event to benefit the Lake Lanier Olympic Park and is being held in honor of the 25th anniversary of the 1996 Olympic Games. The 5K will follow the same path the official Olympic torch traversed through Gainesville in 1996, including the streets surrounding Brenau.

Both 5K and 1-mile course options are available, and overall and age groups awards will be presented after the race.  For more information and to register, visit runsignup.com/porchtotorch.

All participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt, a chip-timed race and refreshments after the race. Packet pickup will take place on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the Gainesville Civic Center, just up the hill from City Park from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Packets will also be available race morning beginning at 7 am. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed to everyone who registers by July 23.

Spectators and participants are invited to take part in the Olympic Village during and after the race. Explore official 1996 Olympic memorabilia, take part in versions of Olympic games for the kiddos, interact with some of the partner organizations and enjoy treats from Kona Ice. The Olympic Village activities continue until 10 a.m.
